Wildfire burn history since 2005
About burn history
Twenty years of wildfire, season by season
Burn history plays back every mapped wildfire of 1,000 acres or more in the United States since 2005, one season at a time. Each fire appears in the year it burned and stays on the map as a scar, so you can watch where fire keeps returning and where it has not burned in decades.

Questions
Why only fires of 1,000 acres or more?
They are the fires that shape a landscape, and keeping smaller ones out lets twenty years of fire play smoothly on a phone.
Are prescribed burns included?
Large prescribed fires that were mapped as perimeters are part of the national records and appear with the wildfires of their year.
Can I share a season?
Yes. The address in your browser always points to the season you are looking at.
Not for emergency use. These are records of past fire growth. For a fire burning now, see the live fire map and follow your county sheriff and local emergency management.
