Effective Date: 03/22/2025
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of The Journeyman platform. By using our services, you agree to these terms.
1. User Accounts
-
Registration: Users must create an account with accurate and up-to-date information.
-
Security: Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials and must notify The Journeyman immediately of any unauthorized use or security breaches.
2. Permitted & Prohibited Use
-
The platform may only be used for lawful purposes.
-
Users are strictly prohibited from engaging in activities such as transmitting harmful content, engaging in unlawful behavior, or attempting to exploit the platform for malicious purposes.
3. Intellectual Property Rights All content on The Journeyman website and mobile app, including but not limited to software, databases, designs, and text, is owned by The Journeyman. Users are granted a license to use the platform, not ownership of its content.
4. Payments & Subscription Management
-
Approved companies can manage subscriptions and payments through our secure web platform.
-
All payments are processed through Stripe, ensuring compliance with app store policies and avoiding in-app transaction fees.
5. Compliance with App Store Guidelines The Journeyman app complies with Apple App Store and Google Play Store regulations. Financial transactions, including subscription payments, are managed through our website, in accordance with app store requirements.
6. User Responsibilities By using the platform, users agree to:
-
Provide accurate and truthful information.
-
Refrain from using automated methods to access or interact with the platform.
-
Avoid engaging in prohibited activities, including hacking, spamming, or violating applicable laws.
7. Job Postings and Applications The Journeyman facilitates job postings and applications. The platform is not responsible for hiring decisions made by companies using its services. When a user applies to a job, their resume and certifications are shared with the posting company.
8. Training and Certifications The platform provides tools for uploading and tracking certifications and training records. Users can mark documents as:
-
Private: viewable only by the user
-
Roster Viewable: viewable by owners/admins of accepted or invited rosters (with auto-view/download enabled on assignment)
-
Public: viewable by all users
Emergency contact information is viewable only by owners/admins of companies where a user is an accepted or invited roster member.
9. Messaging and SMS Communications Registered companies using The Journeyman may send SMS messages to users or custom contact lists using our platform. By joining a company roster, users consent to receive SMS from that company only. Goods and Services vendors may send limited wildland fire-specific SMS messages related to their category. Custom contacts must first opt in via an automated welcome message before further messages are delivered.
Users on an accepted or invited company roster may also send alert SMS messages to company owners or admins when they are assigned to an incident or resource. This facilitates two-way communication for deployment updates.
-
All SMS must comply with Twilio’s Messaging Policy and Acceptable Use Policy.
-
All messages must include opt-out instructions (e.g., "Reply STOP to unsubscribe").
-
Message activity may be rate limited and monitored to prevent abuse.
-
Message content is not stored by The Journeyman.
10. Custom Contacts and Company Data Registered companies on a paid subscription may create and manage custom contact lists containing name, phone number, and email. This information is visible only to the company that created it and is not shared across the platform. The company is solely responsible for ensuring that recipients have given proper consent to receive communications.
11. Wildland Fire Data from Third-Party Sources The Journeyman displays wildland fire-related information using publicly available data from third-party sources, including the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) and other federal or state agencies. While we strive to display timely and accurate information, we do not guarantee its completeness or reliability. This data is not generated by The Journeyman and should not be solely relied upon for operational decision-making. Users should consult official agency sources for the most current and authoritative information.
Use of NIFC data is subject to their terms and conditions. For more information, visit: https://www.nifc.gov
12. Termination The Journeyman reserves the right to suspend or terminate user accounts for violations of these Terms of Use.
13. Limitation of Liability The platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. The Journeyman is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the platform.
14. Governing Law These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of South Dakota, USA.
