At The Journeyman, we prioritize your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of information we collect, how we use it, the measures we take to protect it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information Collection We collect information when you:

  • Register on the platform

  • Apply for jobs or post job listings

  • Participate in training or certifications

  • Communicate with other users or companies

  • Receive or send SMS messages through our platform

Types of information we collect include:

  • Personal Identification: Name, email, phone, address, and emergency contacts

  • Employment & Certification: Job history, certifications, and training records

  • Profile Info: Profile photo, work history, and certifications

  • Documents: Uploaded work-related documents and certifications

  • Communications: Messages and media shared in chat features and SMS

  • Job Board & Event Data: Job postings, applications, and participation in events/training

  • Location Data: Used for job recommendations

  • Custom Contacts: When a registered company creates and stores a custom contact (e.g., name, number, email), it is visible only to that company.

2. Use of Information We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve services

  • Facilitate job application and hiring processes

  • Track certifications and enable communications

  • Send notifications and ensure account security

  • Deliver SMS messages to users or contacts when initiated by registered companies

  • Enable alert SMS communications from users to company owners/admins when assigned to incidents, for rosters they are part of

3. Document Privacy and Visibility Users may upload documents including certifications, qualifications, resumes, and related files. Each uploaded document has visibility settings:

  • Private: Only viewable by the user. Not accessible to any other users or companies.

  • Roster Viewable: Visible to owners/admins of companies where the user is an accepted or invited member of the roster. This includes auto-view/download of relevant certifications if assigned to an incident or position.

  • Public: Visible to all users on the platform.

When a user applies to a job posting, their resume and certifications are automatically viewable by the posting company. Emergency contact information is only viewable by owner/admins of companies where the user is an accepted or invited roster member.

Marketing Communications By registering on The Journeyman, or joining a company roster, you consent to receive communications from that company, including SMS. Registered companies can only message users within their roster. Goods and Services vendors may send SMS related only to wildland fire-specific topics relevant to their category.

You can opt out at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” in any email, replying "STOP" to any SMS message, or updating preferences in your account settings. Essential service-related notifications necessary for platform functionality will still be sent.

4. Information Protection We implement encryption, firewalls, and SSL protocols to protect your data. Access to your information is restricted to authorized personnel under confidentiality agreements and law enforcement during investigation.

5. Information Sharing We do not sell or trade personal information to third parties without your consent. Information may be shared with:

  • Trusted third parties: Services like Firebase, Stripe, and Twilio that assist in platform operations

  • Legal authorities: To comply with legal obligations or protect user safety

All third parties adhere to strict confidentiality agreements.

6. Firebase Integration Our platform uses Firebase to manage and process data. By using The Journeyman, you acknowledge that your data is stored securely on Firebase. Review Firebase’s Privacy Policy for further details.

7. Stripe Integration Stripe processes all payments for approved registered companies via our secure web platform. Payments are not processed through the mobile app to maintain compliance with Apple and Google Play Store policies.

8. Twilio Integration Our SMS messaging feature is powered by Twilio. By using our platform, you agree to Twilio's Acceptable Use Policy and Messaging Policy. SMS communications initiated by registered companies are sent via secure API integration with Twilio and comply with all applicable telecommunications regulations.

  • SMS logs and message content are not stored or accessed by The Journeyman.

  • Messages sent to custom contacts require an initial opt-in via a Twilio welcome message before any further communication.

  • All messages must include opt-out language and respect user preferences.

9. Your Rights You have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data

  • Withdraw consent for data usage

  • Request a copy of your data
